No cure claims
Ever, for any condition.
Any practitioner telling you to stop your prescription has told you enough about themselves.
Acupuncture has reasonable evidence behind it for several kinds of pain and for stress-related complaints, and it has none at all for curing serious disease. The honest position is to say which is which, to work alongside a patient's physician, and to refer when something needs investigating rather than needling.
Herbs are where the real risk sits, because people think of them as food. Several widely used formulas interact with anticoagulants and blood pressure medication, and a patient who does not mention their warfarin because nobody asked is the scenario that causes harm. Asking for the full list first is not bureaucracy.
The smaller courtesies matter too. Cupping leaves marks that last days, gua sha leaves red streaks, and both alarm people who were not told. Explaining that before treating is the difference between an expected effect and a frightening one.
Ever, for any condition.
Herbs are not inert.
Marks and risks, not afterwards.
A short call, with an honest answer about whether this suits you.
